In the CSGO esports scene, competition and battle have escalated with the summer months. After a short break, we are making a quick return to CSGO tournaments. As you know, tournaments have been held continuously since June 2022. The confrontation started with IEM Dallas and continued with the BLAST Premier Spring Finals. Now, IEM Cologne 2022 is next. A total of 24 teams compete in the tournament, with a prize pool of $1,000,000.

IEM Cologne 2022 Tournament Format
Firstly, the IEM Cologne 2022 tournament will consist of three stages. The first stage will be the Play-in, the second stage will be the group stage, and the final stage will be the playoffs. In short, we can safely say that we will have enough CSGO esports for 12 days. Now, we would like to explain the tournament format in detail under this title. Let’s take a brief look.
Play-In: July 5th – 6th, 2022
Play-in, the starting phase of the tournament, starts on July 5, 2022. We will watch the competition of 16 teams to join the eight teams that have qualified before. We also think that there will be very competitive matches.
Here is the play-in format;
- Firstly, all matches will be played with the double-elimination bracket system.
- The opening matches will be played as bo1, while all other matches will be held as bo3.
- In addition, the first eight successful teams will be able to qualify for the group stage directly.
Group Stage: July 7th – 10th, 2022
The group stage will undoubtedly be the most enjoyable part of IEM Cologne 2022. The world’s best CSGO teams face off again. It can be fun to bet on your favourite teams, especially since the excitement will be high at this point.
- Firstly, 16 teams will be divided into groups A and B. In other words, we will witness two different group stages.
- They will then play the matches in two double-elimination formats in two groups.
- We would also like to remind you that all matches in the group stage will be played as Bo3.
- Another detail is that the teams that succeeded in being the first in the group stage will be able to advance directly to the semi-finals. The runners-up will continue to fight in the quarterfinals as high seeds. Lastly, the 3rd place teams as low seeds have to face their rivals in the quarterfinals.
Playoffs: July 15th – 17th, 2022
Now it’s time to talk about the grand finale of IEM Cologne 2022. Playoffs will typically consist of quarterfinals and semi-finals. We would also like to remind you that all matches will be played as Bo3 except for the grand final. Teams that eventually make it to the Grand Final will battle for 3200 BLAST Premier points and a massive $400,000 prize. In addition, we would like to say that playoffs matches will be played with a single-Elimination bracket.
